Basf targets electronic goods sector with elastic polymer foam
Basf has added a new product to its range of expanded polymer foams that is being targeted at the electrical and electronic goods sector
Basf claims that E-por is the first tough-elastic, crack-resistant foam that can be transported, stored, processed and recycled in the same ways as its Styropor expanded polystyrene.
The firm also said the material has good resistance to solvents and an appealing feel. E-por is said to be multishock safe and therefore well suited to transport high quality electrical and electronic products.
"E-por combines the shock resistance and aesthetic appeal of interpolymers with the cost-effective recycling and ease of processing of the standard material Styropor," Basf said.
The material can be processed on conventional Styropor machines, and can also be degassed and recycled using Styropor technology, meaning converters do not need to alter their machines.
