CEPI updates guidance for food-contact applications; download
The Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) has publihsed a new version of its good-practice guidelines for manufacturers of paper and board for food contact applications.
The Good Manufacutring Practice (GMP) updates the previous version that was published in 2002 to incorporate new concepts and methodologies.
"GMP is an essential part of the production of food contact paper and board," said Jori Ringman-Beck, CEPI recycling and product director.
The new guidelines cover areas such as frozen food cartons and corrugated fruit and vegetable boxes.

The guide describes the basic requirements of the regulations, how they should be interpreted and a list actions needed to comply.
"The GMP adds to the paper industry’s responsible, pro-active and innovative work to ensure consumer safety," added Ringman-Beck.
The document will be reviewed at the end of next year and CEPI encouraged manufacturers to provide feedback.
