Eco-friendly packaging SHOULD always be business strategy
(Date:2008-11-28)
It could be a milestone in 2007 to put the idea of sustainability into practice
among packaging companies. Sustainability is something manufacturers have been avid for and hope to carry it out on the daily basis.
The issue has been highly emphasized after the startling research--- The Inconvenient Truth--- conducted by Al Gore honestly revealed the imminent danger that human beings are going to risk. Along with it came an array of environmental awareness that manufacturers, retailers and consumers need to care about and then go further to take up.
The Arkansas-based retailer has directed some 60,000 manufacturers to practice its sustainable packaging scorecard, which could help assess the amount of waste each brand has produced and record how much energy buyers have reduced. And hopefully the result could ideally live up to the company’s aim to cut down 5 percent of packaging waste by 2013. That quantity equalizes to 67 million gallons of diesel fuel annually.
With increasing emphasis on the tough situation we are encountering, eco-friendly packaging should always be the business strategy among various walks of life.
