New paper product for green fingers
A London-based firm has developed a new paper product that can turn packaging into a tomato plant.
The company called SeedPaper launched this year and has provided new packs to cosmetic firms Lush and Dr Hauschka.
SeedPaper takes recycled paper and embeds the paper with seeds to create packs or stationery that can be planted at the end of its life and can grow into anything from vegetables to flowers.
A SeedPaper spokeswoman said that it had created soap packaging for Lush and put lemon mint seeds in a new Dr Hauschka pack to promote its new product.
The printing process for the paper uses both soy-based inks and organic pigments. According to SeedPaper, the paper is versatile and can be cut or moulded into any shape.
SeedPaper managing director Anthony Ganjou said: “We’re really excited about SeedPaper. Not only is it a great innovative product, but it’s something that has already been proven to help clients stand out from the crowd. Imagine taking home a business card, planting it and it growing into a tomato plant, you’ll remember it every time you put tomatoes in your salad.
“The reaction to SeedPaper is always the same, people love the sustainable innovation and business get people literally engaging with their message.”
