Sustainable packaging: Whole Foods to carry the Eco-friendly 'GreenBox’

 

ECOvention, LLC announced today that as of August 2010, more than 30 Whole Foods Market locations in the Rocky Mountain region will use the multi-functional, eco-friendly GreenBox to serve take-away customers at their brick-oven pizza counters.



Dubbed "the pizza box of the 21st century" by Fox News, the GreenBox is a new and exciting re-design of the wasteful and outdated industry-standard pizza box. Made from 100% recycled material, the top of the GreenBox breaks down into plates, while the bottom folds into a convenient storage container. The innovative design eliminates the need for disposable plates as well as plastic wrap and aluminum foil for leftovers and allows for easy disposal into a standard-sized recycling bin.

According to ECOvention CEO William Walsh, "Whole Foods Market and the GreenBox share a common passion for environmental sustainability and innovative customer service. We are pleased to be working with Whole Foods Market towards the common goal of more responsible food packaging."

In coming months, ECOvention, LLC expects to roll out the GreenBox at other Whole Foods Market locations throughout the United States and Canada.

The GreenBox has received an exceptionally enthusiastic response from both restaurants and consumers after being placed in the spotlight by Ashton Kutcher via a "tweet" to his Twitter followers. Since then, the GreenBox has been the subject of unprecedented attention from both the mainstream media and the New Media world of blogs and social networking sites.
