Chesapeake has installed a Mark Andy P7 flexo label press at its operation in Wrexham, North Wales
The machine set-up is fully automated, print quality is monitored by an in-line camera inspection system and adjusted at any manufacturing speed across a full range of substrates.
Equipped with 8 UV and Hot Air flexo print units, the press is ideal for short run lengths where a fast changeover is vital, according to Chesapeake.
Ian Bates, Wrexham’s operations director, said: “The Mark Andy press will support our growth plans and extend our capabilities.
“We can now produce a greater range of labels particularly complex designs requiring a high number of colours. The P7 press is also equipped with many quality control and time-saving features which will help us strengthen the quality and service levels we deliver to our customers.”
The installation is part of an ongoing investment programme which has benefited the pharmaceutical and healthcare packaging manufacturer’s global operations.
This includes the recent installment of a Gidue M5 digital label press at one of Wrexham’s sister sites at Bourne, Lincolnshire.
“We have been impressed with the increased automation and environmental related improvements offered by the press,” Bates continued.
“The inline quality inspection system from AVT as well as the automatic register functions of the press will enable us to maintain even greater product consistency for our customers. The efficiency improvements will also significantly reduce both ink and material waste helping us to meet our environmental goals,” he added.
