Esko is rolling out new pre-press and finishing products for the packaging industry, designed to respond to a supply chain that has become “deeper and wider than ever before”.
The software developer, which also distributes the Kongsberg range of finishing tables, will be launching a series of updated products at this year’s Drupa, which runs from 3-16 May in Düsseldorf.
Highlights include Suite 12, which is Esko’s “brand execution” software. Tools include automatic artwork creation and Store Visualizer, which recreates a live 3D retail environment allowing brand owners and designers to see how pack designs appear on shelf.
“Suite 12 is a major update to our software portfolio and is part of our strategy to widen and broaden the supply chain,” said Frank Adegeest, director of interactive applications in Esko’s software product group.
In addition, Esko will unveil the new flexo platemaking machine, the CDI Spark 4835 Auto. The machine incorporates digital UV back exposure and cures the plates in a digital way.
“HD flexo has helped to improve the quality of flexo up to the level of gravure and offset,” said Pascal Thomas, Esko product manager for digital flexo.
From Kongsberg, Esko will launch the XN model. Vice president for the digital finishing business Steve Bennett said that the machine was durable and targeted packaging and sign making applications. In addition, Kongsberg has been selected by HP as its finishing partner at Drupa.
Meanwhile, Enfocus will go to Drupa with a revamped corporate identity and a new version of its pre-flighting product. Pitstop 11 will use open architecture and “use variables for the very first time”, according to Enfocus vice president Fabian Prudhomme.
